Berhan Insurance S.C. was established in October 2010 under Proclamation No. 86/1994 with an initial paid-up capital of Birr 9.7 Million. Initiated by Berhan Bank S.C., the company was formed by 455 founding shareholders, who comprised influential and well-known investors in the country.
The company commenced full operations in June 2011. Driven by successful market penetration and promising profitability, Berhan Insurance has grown its shareholder base to over 1,600 investors. Furthermore, the company has successfully met the National Bank of Ethiopia’s paid-up capital requirements for both general and life insurance providers, bringing its total paid-up capital to Birr 200 million.

Berhan Insurance S.C. currently operates through a network of 30 branches and 2 contact offices strategically placed across major urban centers:
- Addis Ababa: 20 branches.
- Regional Towns: 12 offices distributed across Hawassa, Wolaita Sodo, Bahir Dar, Mekelle, Adama, Dessie, Hossana, Shashemene, Arba Minch, Jimma, Dilla, and Bishoftu.
