- Foundation: The bank was established on August 28, 2012, originally operating under the name Debub Global Bank S.C. It launched operations with a subscribed capital of Birr 266.9 million and a paid-up capital of Birr 138.9 million, backed by an initial group of over 9,000 shareholders.
- Rebranding: In 2023, the institution officially rebranded to Global Bank Ethiopia. This move was designed to reflect a broader national and international ambition, accompanied by a visual overhaul and strategic repositioning to appeal to a wider customer base.
- Headquarters: The bank's head office is located at the National Tower on Ras Abebe Damtew St. in Kirkos Sub-city, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
