Zemen Insurance Share Company (ZISC) is a private insurance provider established by 926 shareholders. The company was registered with the Ministry of Trade and Industry on January 24, 2020, after obtaining its non-life (general) insurance license from the National Bank of Ethiopia on January 17, 2020. ZISC officially commenced insurance operations on June 5, 2020.
At its initial stage, the company entered the market with an authorized capital of Birr 500 million, marking the highest initial capital amount in Ethiopian insurance history. According to the audited financial statements as of July 31, 2023/24, ZISC has built a financial position consisting of Birr 832.9 million in total assets, Birr 223.3 million in paid-up capital, and Birr 352.3 million in total capital.
