Banking Trainee is the entry point for fresh BA graduates into Ethiopian commercial banks. CBE, Awash, Dashen, and Abyssinia all run trainee intakes once or twice a year, typically advertised between February and May. The selection process is a written aptitude test (verbal reasoning, numerical, banking awareness) followed by a panel interview. Trainees rotate through customer service, cash, and operations during a six- to twelve-month induction before being confirmed as Customer Service Officers or Junior Officers. The role's value is the doorway it opens, not the starting salary, which is at the lower end of the bank's grade structure.
